For the first time ever, since its inception in 1998, Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) is expanding its forte beyond concert by presenting a stand-up comedy. Prominent Malaysian comedian Douglas Lim will make his debut under the newly-introduced DFP Punchline series on Saturday, 23 November 2024 at 3.30 pm.
This date was added due to an overwhelming response from the public after tickets for the presentations on Friday, 22 November 2024 and Saturday, 23 November at 8.30 pm are sold out.
Themed One Mic Only, this presentation is in line with DFP’s continuous initiatives to present a variety of entertainment for all walks of life and expanding its brand presence to new audience.
Lim’s multifaceted career and dynamic presence in the entertainment industry continue to captivate audiences. His proficiency in English, Malay and Chinese adds a unique dimension to his comedic material, appealing to a diverse audience.
He first captured the attention of audiences in the ’90s popular sitcom Kopitiam, earning him a nomination at the Asian Television Awards. His comedic prowess extended to stand-up when he headlined one of most successful stand-up tours by the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians.
He has presented sold-out performances at Istana Budaya and KL Convention Centre. Beyond Malaysia, he received acclaim at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Public Theater, New York, landing him on the list of Asia’s Top 10 Comedians. In 2019, he headlined the MACC – The Goodbye Tour performing to more than 10,000 people across 11 cities.
Lim also ventured into acting in movies and television series such as Polis Evo 3, One Cent Thief, Family Feud Malaysia, Dari KL Ke PL, The Experts, Don Dukun and Harimau Malaya.
During the pandemic era, his videos on social media garnered millions of views, propelling him into the Malaysian Book of Records. He also ventured into radio by joining Fly FM’s breakfast show. His debut presentation at DFP marks another milestone in his career.
Get ready as Lim takes us through a comedic adventure in a parallel universe that pokes fun and sees us laughing at ourselves, right from the concert hall! The showcase will last for 90 minutes without an intermission.
DFP, which can seat 920 people at one time, is part of the 10 attractions and places of interests in KLCC comprising PETRONAS Twin Towers, Suria KLCC, Petrosains – The Discovery Centre, Aquaria KLCC, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Impiana KLCC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and KLCC Park.
