Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), in collaboration with the German Embassy, presents a piano duo concert of immaculate artistry to commemorate bilateral relations between Malaysia and Germany. This auspicious event is scheduled on Wednesday, 27 November 2024 at 7.00 pm and will feature pianists of exceptional calibre from both countries who will bring the audience on a musical adventure from the West to the East.
Themed German-Malaysian Friendship Concert: East-West Piano Duo, the concert will present an exciting programme comprising Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, McPhee’s Balinese Ceremonial Music, Piazzolla’s Primera portena from the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, and Saint-Saens’ Danse macabre and Carnival des Animaux.
Named Outstanding Woman Pianist upon receiving the Rubinstein Award in New York in 1996, Sarawak-born Hii Mei Lin is known for her enigmatic expression, rhythmic precision and clarity. Besides New York, she has showcased her musicianship in Switzerland, the French Caribbean, Asia and Australia. An active vocal accompaniment, she has performed with Spiro and Marlena Malas of the New York Metropolitan Opera, Gabor Carelli, Cynthia Hoffmann, Brian Larson, Roeland Djuine, Leslie Tan and Charles Bressler.
She has recorded a classical crossover album with Lewis Pragasam and was invited by Paolo Fazioli to record the Goldberg Variations. In 2018, she launched a classical music series called Ivory Series to foster collaborations with people from various disciplines of art.
Berlin-born pianist Caroline Fischer has given numerous concerts and recitals in Europe, Asia, Africa, the USA and South America at prestigious venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Vienna Musikverein, Carnegie Hall New York, Seoul Arts Center and Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall. She has performed with the Korean Chamber Ensemble, Berliner Symphoniker and National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador, and participated at music events such as the International Steinway Festival, Beethoven Festival Bangkok, Korean Festival Seoul and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
To date, she has garnered 39 awards and 16 fellowships under her name, and has also released five CD albums. Apart from her concert schedule, she has given masterclasses at universities worldwide.
Join us in an eclectic evening of musical mastery, friendship and diplomacy. This 75-minute concert is a notable occasion that honours cooperation and unity brought by the universal language of music.
DFP, which can seat 920 people at one time, is part of the 10 attractions and places of interests in KLCC comprising PETRONAS Twin Towers, Suria KLCC, Petrosains – The Discovery Centre, Aquaria KLCC, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Impiana KLCC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and KLCC Park.
